Features

The full Danbyte capability catalog.

Everything below ships in the free, open-source release — there is no enterprise tier and nothing is cloud-only. Organized by pillar: IPAM, DCIM, connectivity, platform, discovery and automation. When in doubt, the docs go deeper.

IPAM

Address space you can see, plan, and trust.

Enter your prefixes once; Danbyte derives the rest. The containment tree, available space and utilization are computed from your data, per VRF — not hand-maintained.

The space map shows what's free, what's used, and where loose IPs hide — click any green block to carve a subnet.
The prefix list and containment tree — your address space as a live, per-VRF hierarchy.
The IP address list — every address in a prefix with status, DNS name and assignment.
An IP address detail view — status, role, DNS, MAC, assigned interface and history.

Prefixes & derived tree

A live containment hierarchy per VRF, with parent/child, free space and utilization all computed from your prefixes.

Space map

A visual map of any prefix — what's free, what's used, and where loose IPs hide. Click a free block to carve a subnet.

VLANs & VLAN groups

Model VLANs and scope them with groups, then assign to sites, racks or interfaces.

VRFs & route targets

Full VRF support with import/export route targets and overlapping CIDRs keyed by (tenant, vrf, cidr).

IP ranges

First/last address ranges with utilization, for DHCP pools and reservations.

RIRs, aggregates & ASNs

Track allocations from RIRs down through aggregates, alongside AS numbers.

FHRP groups

First-hop redundancy groups (VRRP / HSRP / GLBP) with virtual IP tracking.

Service templates

Reusable service definitions (ports and protocols) applied to devices and IPs.

Gateway autospawn

Designate a gateway once and have it created and kept in sync automatically.

Search & MAC tracking

Global search across objects; follow a MAC address to its interface and IPs.

User-defined statuses & roles

Define your own statuses and prefix/VLAN roles to match your operational language.

DCIM

Your racks and gear, drawn as real hardware.

Model the physical layer at true scale: millimetre-accurate rack elevations, device faceplates that light up with live link state, and a full power model.

A rack elevation in Render mode — mm-true hardware, front and rear, exportable to PNG.
SS-5Device faceplate
A device faceplate at physical scale, with live SNMP link state drawn over your source-of-truth intent.
A device detail view — interfaces, IPs, rack position, power and connections in one place.

Device catalog

A library of device types with images, ports and template components you instantiate per install.

Link-state faceplates

Front and rear faceplates that color ports by link state, drawn at physical scale with live SNMP dots.

Drag-drop faceplate builder

Lay out custom faceplates by dragging ports into place.

Racks — Names / Images / Render

mm-accurate rack elevations from 10" to 23", in three view modes, exportable to PNG.

Interfaces & virtual/aggregate interfaces

Physical, virtual, LAG and bridge interfaces with speeds and roles.

Virtual chassis

Stack members into a virtual chassis with {position}-aware naming.

IP assignment

Bind IP addresses to interfaces; primary IPs roll up to the device.

Power model

Panels → feeds → ports → outlets, with supply/demand and weight rollups.

Object numbers & cable labels

Deterministic object numbers and printable cable labels.

Connectivity

Trace any run end to end — through panels, PDUs, and fibre.

Cabling is modelled as real infrastructure. Trace a circuit through patch panels and PDUs, follow fibre to the individual strand, and see it all on a live topology canvas and floor plan.

The topology canvas — a live, port-accurate network diagram built from your actual cabling, with LLDP overlay.
Fibre modelled to the strand — colour-coded, labelled, and traceable end to end.
Floor plans are a live spatial index — utilization, monitoring status, and cable tracing right on the floor.

End-to-end cable tracing

Trace a run through patch panels and PDUs, from device port to far-end port.

Fibre strands (TIA-598-C)

Model fibre to the individual strand, TIA-598-C colour-coded and traceable end to end.

LC-duplex & MPO

First-class connector types including LC-duplex and MPO trunks.

Topology canvas

A live, port-accurate diagram built from real cabling, with role tiers, LLDP ghosts and saved views.

Floor plans

Spatial tiles showing utilization, monitoring status and camera fields of view.

Cable trays → pull sheet

Route cable through trays and export a contractor pull sheet.

Circuits & providers

Track carrier circuits and providers alongside your own infrastructure.

VPN tunnels & IPSec profiles

Model VPN tunnels with reusable IPSec profiles.

Wireless SSIDs

Wireless SSIDs bridged to the VLANs that carry them.

Platform

Governance that stands up to an audit.

Access control, change history and compliance are built in, not bolted on. Every change is logged with a readable diff, and access is grant-based down to the row.

Every create, edit and delete is logged automatically, with a readable field-by-field diff.

Tenant + VRF isolation

Hard in-app isolation by Tenant and VRF for shared infrastructure.

Grant-based RBAC

Access control with row constraints and site scoping, granted rather than assumed.

One-click site roles

Editor and viewer roles scoped to a Site, applied in one click.

MFA + LDAP / AD

Multi-factor authentication plus LDAP / Active Directory login.

Automatic change log & History

Every create, edit and delete logged automatically with a field-by-field diff.

Journals

Timestamped operator notes attached to any object.

Compliance rules

Declarative rules with severity that flag records out of policy.

Custom fields & groups

Custom fields on any object — including live object references — organized into groups.

Tags

Free-form tags across every object type.

Public share links

Share a read-only view of an object via a public link.

Customizable dashboard

Compose your own dashboard from widgets.

Import / export

Round-trip CSV, XLSX and JSON.

Contacts, regions & locations

Organizational hierarchy: regions, sites, locations and contacts.

Discovery & Monitoring

Watch what's up. Discover what's really there.

Danbyte keeps your source of truth honest. Active checks tell you what's up; SNMP and nmap read reality into a separate observed layer you reconcile on your terms.

SS-10SNMP drift inbox
SNMP reads reality into a read-only observed layer — you accept drift into your source of truth one item at a time.

Eight check types

Ping, TCP, HTTP and more — eight built-in check types.

Prefix inheritance

Checks inherit down the prefix tree, so monitoring follows your address plan.

Alert channels

Route alerts to Slack, Teams, Discord, PagerDuty and email.

SNMP observed-vs-intended

SNMP reads reality into a read-only observed layer beside your intended source of truth.

Drift inbox

Accept observed drift into your source of truth one item at a time.

nmap sweep

Sweep a prefix with nmap to discover what's really there.

Silences & channels

Silence noisy checks and manage notification channels.

Air-gapped capable

Runs fully offline; no external calls required.

Automation & Integrations

The source of truth your automation already speaks.

Danbyte is a native Ansible and Terraform inventory source, renders config with Jinja, detects drift, and pushes signed events — so your pipelines read straight from the source of truth.

SS-11Config drift diff
Change a value in the UI; the next runner pass renders new intent and flags any device that hasn't caught up.

Ansible dynamic inventory

Danbyte is a native Ansible dynamic inventory source.

Config contexts

Layered, mergeable config data resolved per device.

Export templates (Jinja)

Render device config or any artifact with Jinja export templates.

Config-drift runner

Native Ansible / Terraform inventory plus a diff of intended vs deployed.

Deploy runs

Trigger deploy runs; retry and remediate from the UI.

CF-driven playbook flags

Custom fields drive which playbooks apply to which devices.

Signed webhooks

Outbound webhooks signed with HMAC-SHA512.

Jobs queue

Background jobs on Redis + RQ with a visible queue.

Scoped API tokens
